But it's really about exploring your music collection and using it as a starting point to expand out and discover not just lots more music/artists but also to get interesting insight into it.Audirvana_Plus_3.2.15_TNT.rar (17.86 MB)Īudirvana Plus has no equalizer, no trendy special effects, just the best sounding music The DSP and EQ functions are excellent (especially if you like Audeze headphones as it already has the "Reveal" plug-in capabilities integrated into it). And it'll talk to a huge array of hardware. Yes, it's a great player/server/control point. Roon is something for "music first" audiophiles, I think. And, given the rate at which Roon support is being baked into new hardware I don't see it going away any time soon. The Roon guys were previously "Sooloos" (acquired by Meridian) and that had a good run (and Roon will interoperate with it), so they've been around for a while. I'll hit that point sometime this year (or just have, I'd have to look). When I bought the lifetime subscription to Roon I was primarily concerned that they stuck around long enough to make the service not cost more than just paying annually. Hmmm - that seems really obvious now that I reread it.Ĭlick to expand.I wound up with both.

I *think* my plan is to try Audirvana first and see if it does what I need, and then evaluate Roon and see if the premium seems acceptable after I use it. Actually it still produces quite some images but they get filtered out reasonably good with Audirvanas Anti-Aliasing filter (set to 100). Why am I such a cheapskate! What happened to the good old days of popping, hissing vinyl, cheap cartridges, clipping and feedback, and media packaging big enough to clean your stash in - uh I mean read and enjoy the liner notes from. A settings with as low ringing as possible and a roll off of high frequencies also starting at around 18kHz is steepness: 22 and cutoff 0,95 (and pre-ringing 0,36). Grrrrrr, why does it have to solve all my problems and cost so much. As in will the Roon group be around 5+ years from now?ġ yes, that is kind of a paranoid wanker thing.Ģ I do hope so, as they are doing a good jobģ the “exit strategy” is usually acquisition - would it be good for Apple or Spotify or some hardware outfit to acquire them? Would a lifetime subscription be honored at that point? Yeah, paranoid again.Ĥ the annual option is the way out of that, it just seems a bit pricey. I’m also curious if Jriver is instead my salvation? I’m interested in Roon, but I’m not sure it works the way I need it to work, and the pricing is about 4x what I’d consider reasonable, at least for me, for one of my issues with a lifetime subscription model at $500 is the definition of “lifetime”. I’m hoping Audirvana is my salvation here. The remote app losses commection, crashes or crashes Amarra regularlyĪmarra is just about unusable. The remote app loads artist, album and song info in chunks as you scroll - god help you if you want to play ZZ Top.When sample rate changes, it sounds like switching speeds on a turntable until I stop and start the song one to several times. It has a really nice sound, probably buried DSP or something, but: Bitperfect with itunes worked but was overly bright on my setup. Audirvana just worked well as a standalone player.

Fidelia with the crossfeed hdx plugin was interesting but not worth the tweaking per song. The Windows 10 version of Audirvana Plus offers several advances over the Mac’s current 3.2 version.

Quotes around use, as Amarra is such a cluster screw that use is not really the correct term. I tried all three, and ended up liking Audirvana plus the best. Audirvana, maker of Audirvana Plus, the hi-fi audio player first released for Mac users, announced the commercial release of the highly anticipated Windows 10 version. Plus, I’m unclear if it will work the way I want - Roon an a laptop, usb’d To my Gungnir Multibit, controlled via an iPhone or iPad.
